So I took time off work for the American Idol tryouts so I guess it is getting serious. I have been having serious difficulty finding songs to sing. I guess I need to prepare at least 3.
Here are my thoughts so far.
Please let me know what you think of these songs!

Go Am! I really liked the third song by the female artist. I think out of the three, it would give the best display of your vocal range. I'm sure you'll do great with whatever you choose, though!
The second is played way too much at the dental school so I don't like it much. Doing one by a male artist guarantees you don't do it like he does, which is nice. I think thy are all good as far as being catchy, familiar, but not too much so (unless you live at the UI COD). Which do you feel best singing?
What about "Baby I'm amazed."
I couldn't get the first two to work...
I like them all. I think Erin is right about using male songs so it is harder to compare you to the original artist. I like the last song. You would just have to work harder to make it your own. I think you should have one more upbeat song incase they want you to sing more.
the mayer song is sweet. I still think you should do folsom prison blues though.
The Allison Krause version of "Down to the River to Pray", has always reminded me of your voice. Just another thought.
