Seriously, how long does it take to move into a new house?
We started unloading our stuff into our new house a week ago tomorrow and I don't feel like we've unpacked a single thing. I am grateful we have painted the kitchen, master bedroom, and laundry room. But it seems like that's the only significant tasks we have accomplished. This weekend we have major plans to paint the living room, which looks like a nightmare. Still not sure how well we can reach the vaulted ceiling above the stairs. But I'm sure we'll figure it out--hopefully without falling and breaking our necks.
I'm glad we finally got curtains placed in our bedroom for privacy. I'm realizing it is hard to decide what window coverings to use when you aren't sure of your decorating themes yet. I guess I'll just have to wait on the other windows for now. I am also reminding myself that I can't have a perfectly decorated house all at once--I simply couldn't afford it. And that's another thing I am realizing--the work and the expenses seem to be multiplying. I expect that continues on forever. But I don't mind the work, fortunately.
I am really grateful for our new house. I absolutely love it. And it is so fun to see it take on some color and reflect our personalities a little bit. I am excited to finish painting. Our next project will be to finish the backyard, and in July, the basement. We figure we might as well keep doing the construction thing since we are in the habit. Besides, have you ever noticed people never make the changes they'd like to on their house until they are trying to sell it? I'd like to actually take advantage of the investment of home improvement.
I am pretty sure my dog will be joining us from now on this weekend. We have a kennel lined up for pick-up on Friday. I am excited, but I think I will be surprised at how much work it is to care for him full-time. I guess I've been more like a doggy grandma because I get to enjoy him for a few hours and then leave all the hard work to someone else. :)
I'll post pictures soon, I swear. I just have to find the cord to my camera--who knows where it got packed away. Plus, it will be a lot easier to post once we get internet in our new home. Right now I'm limited to squeezing things in during my lunch break.
