Dog for Sale

For Sale: 3 year old German Shorthair. Happy, mild tempered and loves to wag his tail (nub)--ALL THE TIME. Enjoys playing ball and getting his ears scratched. Obeys most commands most of the time. Cheap. Or maybe even free. . .

To christen the 1 month anniversary of our move into our BRAND NEW home tomorrow, my dear, sweet dog decided to disobey and snuck into our living room. For the most part, we've attempted to train him as a kitchen dog, but have given in to some occasional supervised living room visits. This has apparently confused the dog and he more and more regularly sneaks his way out of the kitchen. We've even found him on the couch; I can't say that I blame him--he's a smart dog.

Much to my horror, I entered my living room to find dog poop EVERYWHERE on my brand new carpet. Now, anyone who has seen my carpet would probably say, "well, at least you have brown carpet" so the poop won't show up so bad. Unfortunately, the dog wasn't that courteous and decided to poop a green mess on my brown carpet. Not so inconspicuous. To make matters worse, my dog always walks around when he goes #2. He can't simply leave his mess in one spot, he has to spread it throughout the yard, or in this case, my entire living room. I counted more than 23 dog poop stains. Yes, to be graphic, it was diarrhea. Can you believe it--23 spots!!! Yuck!

I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. I can't tell what the damage is. I think I may have gotten most of the green mess up, but the stains are still wet, and thus, darker than the rest of the carpet. I really hope it's not obvious. And what if my house smells like poop?! How long will this doom linger? I always hate when people's homes smell like cat pee. Is dog poop worse?

Moral of the story: don't give in to 75lb "puppies" when they wag their tails and act all cute. They are expert manipulators and may have plans to destroy what you've spent months to build (literally).

OH NO! That is AWFUL! I can't even imagine how mad I would be. Are you seriously thinking of getting rid of him? Would a good carpet cleaning do the job? They may have "enzymes" for such things.
